Softball Takes Second Swing Through the WSC Circuit

Softball begins its second swing through the Western State Conference schedule with a pair of games this week.  Cuesta travels to play loop-leading Moorpark on Tuesday (2:30) and is back home to host Santa Monica on Thursday (2:30).  In the first round of play, the Cougars fell to the Raiders in a pitching duel in SLO, 4-0.  Moorpark is 20-8 on the season and owns the best record of any team not ranked in the Coaches' Poll.   Cuesta whitewashed the Corsairs in their first meeting in Santa Monica, 8-0.  The Corsairs are joined by Ohlone College as the only remaining winless teams in the State and their loss to Cuesta marked the only game, they have reached the 6th inning this season.

Last week the Cougars split a pair of WSC contests.  They lost at Ventura in a WSC contest on Tuesday, 13-2, but bounced back at Oxnard on Thursday with a gem from Pitcher Jillian Davis (pict).  Davis went the distance for a complete game shutout against the Condors.   She scattered five hits and struckout a pair of Condors for her second whitewash of the season.  The Cougars are 12-21 on the season and in 4th place in the eight-team WSC circuit.
