Softball is back in the friendly confines of the Cuesta Softball this Friday for the Cougars 2024 Home Opener.  Cuesta welcomes both Sacramento City and #12 Bakersfield for a three-game series this Friday.  The Cougars open the affair against Sacramento (9 AM), while the Panthers play Bakersfield in the sandwich game at 11 AM.  Cuesta and the 12th-ranked Renegades are set for the nightcap at 1 PM. The Cougars and Panthers will run it back at the same times on Saturday with Los Angeles Mission taking Bakersfield place in the second two games.

Softball postponed last Tuesday's scheduled doubleheader with West Hills-Coalinga until February 27, but were able to complete last weekend's three-game road trip to Southern California.  The Cougars opened the trip by splitting a doubleheader in Glendora at Citrus College.  The host Fighting Owls took the opener, 2-1, and the two teams were locked in another pitching duel in the nightcap, until Cougars exploded for seven runs in the top of the 8th inning to claim the 10-3 victory.  On Saturday, Cuesta Coach Jenel Guadagno took her squad back to her old stomping grounds, Cerritos College, where she was once a Star Infielder, where the Cougars locked into another one-run game.  The host Falcons were able to protect their home field with a win over the Cougars, 5-4.  Cuesta's Sophomore Right-hander Pitcher Isabella Garcia (pict) earned a decision in all three games.  She was saddled with complete game losses to open and close the weekend, but also earned the victory out of the bullpen in the extra-inning win at Citrus.  The Cougars are 3-3 on the season.
