Softball Falls to Sac City in Re-match and Rains Out Against LA Mission

Cuesta hosted back-to-back Softball Tripleheaders this weekend but fell one game short on the second day due to the weather.  Cuesta split their games on Friday, but fell to Sacramento City in today's re-match, 5-1.  Cuesta took an early lead on Freshman Skylar Freutel's RBI-single in the second inning, but the visiting Panthers did all the rest of the scoring.  Sacramento scored in each of their next two at bats and tacked on three more tallies in the 5th inning.  Freutel joined Designated Player Danya Boyd as the only Cougars to enjoy a multi-hit game, as the duo accounted for half of the team's eight hits.  The Panthers went on to lose their next game to LA Mission, 6-5. although the game was called due to weather after the 5th inning.  Cuesta is currently 4-5 on the season.

Softball is back in action on Monday, weather permitting, with a doubleheader at College of the Canyons.  The Cougars and the Cougars are set to play games at 12 and 2 PM.  The two Western State Conference teams, which also share the Cougars" as a mascot, play in opposite WSC Divisions, with Cuesta in the WSC North and Canyons in the WSC-South, so the twinbill will not count in their conference records.
