Garcia No-Hits Condors in WSC Blowout Over Oxnard, 15-0

Cuesta Softball opened its Western State Conference North Division schedule by hosting Oxnard.  The Cougars made short work of the winless Condors with Sophomore Pitcher Isabella Garcia (pict) authoring a no-hit shutout as her teammates hammered out 16 runs to clinch the run-rule victory, 15-0. Garcia earned her team-leading seventh victory of the season by striking out seven of the 17 batters she faced and allowing only two Condors to reach base.  Both of Oxnard's baserunners got on base in the 2nd, with a walk and hit by pitch, but Garcia got out of the jam.  On offense, Garcia joined her teammates as they pulled away for the necessary eight-run lead after five innings to secure the run-rule victory.  Garcia went 2-for-4 on the day, including a home run, while scoring twice and driving in a game-high five runs.  Rightfielder Hailey Hallford and Shortstop Reese Tartaglia also helped power the Cougars' offense.  Hallford connected for a game-high three hits, including a Double, as she scored twice and drove in three runs, while Tartaglia included a Double among her two hits and driving in two runs and scoring three more.   The victory evened the Cougars' record to 8-8 on the season and pointed their chase for a WSC title in the right direction.

The Cougars host Fresno City for a non-conference twinbill this Saturday (12/2), before returning to WSC play next Tuesday (2 PM) when local rival Allan Hancock comes to SLO.
