Softball Gets Revenge on Over Rival Bulldogs in Run-Rule Game, 8-0

Cuesta Softball enjoyed a 6-inning, run-rule victory over local rival Allan Hancock, 8-0, to remain undefeated in Western State Conference play.  The Cougars also earned a measure of revenge against the Bulldogs, who snatched away a playoff berth by sweeping the Cougars in a doubleheader in their 2023 home finale.  This year, the Cougars defended their home field and our certain to have their April 4th rematch in Santa Maria circled on their calendar.  Today, the Cougars jumped out to an early lead by scoring once in the opening frame and thrice in the second inning.  The Cougars only had one baserunner the next two innings but added a pair of tallies in both the 5th and 6th to reach the necessary eight-run margin.  The Cougars counted on the left side of their infield to carry the offense as Shortstop Reese Tartaglia and Third Baseman Danya Boyd (pict) combined for four of the Cougars eight hits, including one double each.  They duo also drove in five of the game's eight runs.  Starting Pitcher Isabella Garcia, who authored a no-hitter last week, let the Cougars to victory by posted her third shutout of the season.  The victory improved the Cougars record to 9-10 on the season and 2-0 in WSC play.

Cuesta continues its WSC schedule this Thursday at Ventura (2:30) and returns home to face Santa Barbara next Tuesday (2:30).
