Softball Falls in WSC Battle of the Undefeated, 8-0

Both Cuesta and Moorpark entered today's Western State Conference showdown tied for first and both teams boasting an unblemished record against the circuit.  The visiting Raiders struck first, by turning a leadoff walk in to the game's first lead, but Cuesta held them to that initial run until the 5th inning.  Moorpark added five runs in the 5th to take control of the game and then added two more in their last at-bat for an 8-0 final.  The Cougars managed only two hits in the game and dropped into second place in the WSC Standings, where they are currently sandwiched between the Raiders and local rival Allan Hancock.  Cuesta is 15-12 overall and now 5-1 in WSC play.

Cuesta Softball has a busy schedule next week with four games on the list.  The Cougars open the second round of WSC play in Oxnard on Tuesday (2:30) and then travel to Santa Maria on Thursday (2:30) to face local rival Allan Hancock in game that could affect each team's playoff contention. The Cougars end the week backs at home with a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday against Reedley (12/2PM)
