Returning Freshman Guard Julia Carney (SLO HS) has set a new career-high in scoring in each of her past two games. Carney scored 32 points to lead the Cougars past Santa Barbara City, 62-55, on Saturday, while eclipsing her previous best of 23 points set against Oxnard a week ago. Carney currently leads the Cougars in scoring with 12.9 points per game and has braced with fellow Wing Olivia Missler (Santa Margarita: Mission Prep) to account for 44% of the Cougars' total points this season. Carney, who played three games for the Cougars in 2019-20 before Covid hit, currently ranks 8th all time for career scoring average at Cuesta with 13.0 points per game.
