Women's Basketball Returns to SLO Still Chasing a Victory

Women's Basketball has been on the road for the past month but returns to Stork Gym for a pair of games in front of their home faithful this week.  The winless Cougars will chase their first "W" of the season while hosting both the Reedley Tigers and Las Positas Hawks.   Reedley, who is currently 1-7, comes to Cuesta on Friday (5 PM), while Las Positas is scheduled for Saturday (3 PM).  The Cougars and Tigers have only one common opponent this season, Bakersfield.  The Tigers lost to the Renegades by 11 points on November 3, while the Cougars were downed by a dozen in Bakersfield last Tuesday.  Cuesta is also back in action on Saturday (3 PM) when Las Positas come to SLO.  The Hawks are also chasing their first win of the season; however, their past three losses were all forfeits.

Cuesta Women's Basketball fell to 0-6 last Tuesday with a loss at Bakersfield, 51-39.  The Renegades jumped out to a 18-12 lead in the first quarter, but the Cougars entered halftime down by a single bucket, 25-23.  After the intermission, the Renegades added another point to their lead, 36-33, but the Cougars were in range of victory.  Unfortunately, the Cougars' offense abandoned them in the final quarter.  The Cougars went 2-for-10 from the field as Bakersfield went 5-for-12, including a pair of three-pointers, to secure the win, 51-39.  Freshman Forward Abigail Lacy (pict) was a bright spot for the Cougars as she recorded her first career double-double.  Lacy led the Cougars with 11 points, while also pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds.  On the season, she ranks second on the team with both 9.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
