Cougars' Slide Continues Against Reedley, Host Las Positas Tomorrow

Women's Basketball opened strong against Reedley with a 14-11 lead in the first quarter, but ended the evening with another setback, 52-43.  The Cougars went 7-for-19 in that first quarter, while the visiting Tigers went 4-for-15, however Reedley heated up and converted 16-for-42 shots the rest of the way.  Cuesta failed to reached double-digits on either side of the intermission but did bounce back for 13 points in the final quarter to claimed two of the games top scoring periods.  Cuesta's downfall was Reedley's 17-point second quarter that put the Cougars in a hole at halftime, 28-22, that they could not escape.  Freshman Abigail Lacy posted a double-double for the Cougars.  She tied Sophomore Forward Sam Watanabe for the team lead with 12 points, while also grabbing 20 rebounds.  Lacy is the 6th Cuesta player to collect 20 boards in a game and is tied with four other players for second all time.  The loss also dropped the Cougars to 0-7 on the season.

Cuesta is back in action tomorrow afternoon (12/3) against Las Positas (3 PM).  The Hawks, along with the Cougars, are one of nine teams in the state still searching for their initial triumph of 2022-23 campaign.
