Women Cagers Split at Hancock Tournament

Women's Basketball split two games at the Hancock Tournament last week.  The Cougars opened the tournament by achieving their second victory of the season by outscoring their fellow Cougars from Taft, 69-56.  Sophomore Sam Watanabe (pict) led the charge with a career-high 20 points, while Freshman Sydney Howe posted a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.  Howe grabbed ten more boards the next night, but the Cougars fell to Glendale, 67-53.  All-WSC Guard Olivia Missler led the Cougars with 16 points against the Vaqueros, while fellow Guard Maria Ferrer Brao netted her season-best 14 points and dished out a team-high three assists.  In the frontcourt, Forward Abigail Lacy posted her fourth double-double over the past five games with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  The Cougars are 2-8 on the season.

Cuesta has six games left on the docket, before conference play begins with the New Year, including tonight's game against Gavilan.  The Cougars host the winless Rams at 5 PM on Monday, December 12.
