Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for December is Forward Abigail Lacy.
Freshman Forward Abigail Lacy has enjoyed a strong start to her collegiate career and has become an indispensable part of the Cougars' starting line-up. She enters conference play tied for the team lead with 11.8 points per game and leading the team with 8.1 rebounds per contest. She began the month with back-to-back dominant rebounding performance. She corralled 20 rebounds against Reedley on December 2nd, which ties her for the most caroms collected since 1994, and on December 3rd, she collected 19 more boards, including a dozen on offense, to record her second straight double-double. Lacy scored a career-high 28 points against MiraCosta in the Grossmont Tournament finale on December 21 to complete the Cougars' undefeated weekend. Her scoring total against the Spartans ranks 29th all time at Cuesta.
The Cougars opened the season with and 0-6 record in November but charged out to a 6-3 mark in December. They are currently 7-9 as they head into conference play.
