Women Cagers Pick-up Win Over Oxnard, Host #5 Moorpark on Saturday

Women's Basketball picked itself up after a narrow loss to #25 Allan Hancock on Wednesday and earned its first Western State Conference (WSC) victory at Oxnard on Saturday.  The Cougars and host Condors traded baskets in the first quarter, but Cuesta opened up the game in the second period and entered the intermission with a 10-point lead, 29-19.  The "Big Cats" kept the kept the "Big Vultures" at bay in the second half and cruised to victory, 66-49.  Freshman Forward Abigail Lacy enjoyed her second straight double-double, and sixth of the season, with 14 points and 15 rebounds, while all-WSC Guard Olivia Missler led the offense.  Missler scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Cougars, while tying Lacy and Reserve Guard Daisy Hummell with a game-high three assists each.  The triumph improved the Cougars' overall record to 8-11 and moved them 1-2 in conference play.

The Cougars earned a WSC bye this Wednesday and shall have a few extra days to prepare for their home game against #8 Moorpark on Saturday (1 PM).  The visiting Raiders are the highest ranked team in the WSC and reached the past two CCCAA State Final Fours.
