Women's Hoops Fall to #5 Moorpark, Looks to Bounce Back on Monday

Cuesta Women's Basketball fell to #8 Moorpark in a Western State Conference contest, 88-30.  The visiting Raiders jumped out to a 29-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.  The Cougars bounced back to score a game-high nine points in the second quarter, but still entered the intermission trailing, 45-15.  Ten of the Raiders 11 active players scored in the game, including four in double figures, while 2022 All-WSC Guard Olivia Missler and Freshman Forward Abigail Lacy both scored seven points in the contest to pace the Cougars.  The loss drops the Cougars to 8-12 on the season and 1-3 in WSC play, while the Raiders remain atop the loop's standings with a 6-0 mark and improved to 17-5 for the campaign.

Cuesta has a quick turn-around and hosts Santa Barbara City on Monday (5 PM) to lead off another WSC Men's and Women's Doubleheader.  The Cougars and Vaqueros were set to open the 2023 WSC Schedule on February 2, but the game was postponed due to inclement weather.  The Cougars have a full dance car this week with three games on the schedule. They will also complete their first swing through the WSC when they travel to Woodland Hills to face Pierce on Wednesday (5 PM).  On Saturday (3 PM), switch venues and head Santa Barbara on to begin their second swing through the loop with a re-match against the Vaqueros.
