Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for January is Basketball player Olivia Missler.
Returning All-WSC First Team Guard Olivia Missler leads the Cougars with 11.8 points a game this season, despite facing constant double teams. Missler has used the extra attention to find open teammates and is second on the team with 2.6 assists per game. However, that doesn't stop her from lighting up the scoreboard when she gets some breathing room. Missler's 29-point game against local rival Allan Hancock on January 11th cracked Cuesta's all-time Top 20 list. Missler is the only member of the Cuesta roster scoring in double-digits during their conference schedule.
Cuesta Women's Basketball is 8-17 on the season and 1-8 against the Western State Conference. The Cougars will complete their conference play in February.
