Cuesta Women's Cagers Hand Santa Monica a Defeat, 67-52

Women's Basketball hosted Western State Conference Inter-division foe Santa Monica on Saturday and beat the visiting Corsairs, 67-52.  Their foe from the WSC-South jumped out early with a 17-15 lead in the first quarter, but it was all Cougars after that.  Cuesta took a lead into the intermission after outscoring the Corsairs, 20-9, in the second quarter.   Both teams played even coming out of halftime, however the Cougars, once again stepped up their defense and held their visitors to another single digit quarter to clinch the victory.  Freshman Guard Reese Pasternik and Sophomore Forward Abigail Lacy (pict) each posted a double-double in the contest. Pasternik scored a game-high 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, while Lacy scored ten points and corralled a game-high 11 caroms.  The victory improves the Cougars overall record to 3-1 on the season.

Cuesta Women's Cagers have two games on their schedule next week.  They travel to play at Gavilan College in Gilroy on Tuesday (5 PM) and host Santa Ana on Saturday (1 PM).
