Cuesta Women's Basketball started the second round of Western State Conference play slowly against visiting Santa Barbara City. The Vaqueros took an 18-10 lead in the first quarter; however, the Cougars closed the gap to three points at the half. Cuesta evened the game early in the 4th quarter, but Santa Barbara City held on to win, 69-61. Cuesta Forward Abigail Lacy led all scorers with 20 points in the game, while her teammates Reese Pasternik and Karla Lukas also reached double-digits with 16 and 11 points, respectively. Pasternik also led the Cougars with a game-high ten rebounds, while tying Cuesta Guard Bella Musolff with game-highs of four assists and five steals. The setback dropped the Cougars to 13-10 overall and 2-5 in WSC play.
The Cougars continue their second swing through the WSC-North Division as they prepare to avenge a pair of first round losses. Cuesta travel to Ventura on Wednesday (7 PM) and hosts Allan Hancock on Saturday (5 PM). Both games are scheduled as the nightcap of a men's and women's doubleheader.
