Women's Basketball Returns to the CCCAA Playoffs as 24th Seed- Play at LBCC on Wed

Cuesta Women's Basketball earned a spot in the 2024 CCCAA Regional Basketball Playoffs as the 5th place team in the Western State Conference North Division.  The Cougars shall make their first post-season appearance since 2015 at #9-seed Long Beach City.  The Vikings own a 17-9 overall record and went undefeated (8-0) on their way to the South Coast Conference crown.  This Wednesday's playoff game marks the first time the Vikings and Cougars have ever met on the court (on record).  The winner of the game is set to face #8 Victory Valley, in Victorville, on Saturday, March 2.  The Cougars ended the season at .500 with a 14-14 overall record, but they also played in the toughest circuit in the State and their 3-9 record against the loop dragged down their win total.  The Cougars earned the 24th and final playoff spot as they join fellow WSC-North teams; #2 Moorpark, #10 Ventura, #18 Allan Hancock and #22 Santa Barbara in the post-season.  The WSC-South also tossed six teams into the post-season, so the greater WSC represents nearly half of the post-season field.

The Cougars ended their regular season with a loss at Los Angeles Pierce, 66-59.  The loss snapped a 16-game win streak over the Brahmas dating back to February 11, 2012.  The two teams ended the season tied for 5th in the WSC-North, as they both went 3-9 against the loop.  All-WSC Forward Abigail Lacy (pict) led all scorers with 26 points in the game, while fellow All-WSC Performer Reese Pasternik added 19 points and seven rebounds.

The 2024 All-Western State Conference teams will be announced following the conclusion of the post-season
