*Led Wrestling to 5th Place in SEC (2-3) and 14th at the CCCAA State Meet
*A member of the 2021 Cuesta Wrestling Team
*2021 CCCAA State Qualifier- 8th Place
*2021 SouthEast Conference Second Team- 165 lbs.
Coach Joe Dansby says, "Sami is the poster boy for the exemplary student-athlete. He works hard in the classroom as well as the wrestling room. He leads by example and not just talk. He placed 8th at the 2021 state championships and was ranked as high as 2nd this year before suffering a season ending knee infection. Despite not being able to wrestle in the post season Sami kept routing his teammates on and doing what he could from the sidelines, at practices, and in the classroom for the wrestling team. Sami will attend Cal Poly University in the fall."
Note- Cuesta College Athletics will be posting its annual Athlete of the Year Award Winners and Nominees over this week. Each team's nominee will be profiled over the next two days The overall winners will be announced on Thursday (George Silveria Career Award & Warren Hansen Scholar-Athletes) and Friday (Male & Female Outstanding Athletes of the Year). The Coach and Fan of the Year shall be posted next Tuesday. We hope to be back in person next Spring!
