Wrestling Earns SEC Dual Win Over East LA; Hosts 20th Meathead Mover Invite Tomorrow

Wrestling hosted the East Los Angeles Huskies for a pre-Meathead Mover Invitational, SouthEast Conference Dual. The Cougars took an early lead in the match with Andres Cervantes Forfeit win at 125, but it was the higher weight classes that gave the Cougars the victory, 30-27.  Sophomore Reily Lowry's, pin during the first period at 184, turned the tide on a 22-6 Huskie lead as the Cougars rolled to 30-27 win.  The team triumph marks the Cougars' first dual victory of the season and moves them to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the SouthEast Conference, the win also pushes Coach Joe Dansby closer to Gary Meissner's (1972-2000) Cuesta Dual Record of 130 victories during his 30 years aside the mats.  Coach Dansby, in his 22nd year, has 115 wins, counting today.

Tomorrow marks the 20th Meathead Mover Wrestling Invitational at Cuesta College.  It is the premier wrestling event in the CCCAA and teams from all over the State shall converge on San Luis Obispo.  The event is sponsored by SLO's own Meathead Moving Company, which is owned by former Cuesta Wrestlers Aaron and Evan Steed.   Aaron Steed was an All-WSC First Team selection and led the Cougars to a conference title and 6th place at the 1998 State Championships.
