Freshman Center Karina Zumbrun (Arcata) scored the Cougars' game-tying goal to earn a tie against #9 Ventura last Friday.  Zambrun took the pass from Brenna Canepa slammed it past the Pirates' goalie to keep the Cougars alive in the always tough Western State Conference, which boasts three Top 20 teams.  Zambrun leads Cuesta with a team-high three goals this season and her three assists are second only to Canepa's five.  Her goal not only stunned the 14-time WSC Champion Pirates, but also halted a four-game slide for the Cougars.
