Coach Bob Wilson says, "The women's soccer nomination for 2021 athlete of the year goes to Ryleigh Mcginty. Ryleigh was one of two athletes that was able to come back and play from Cuesta's 2019 successful season. Ryleigh played outside back for the Cougars and was always put on the side of the opponents most dangerous player. Even though she was always given the toughest assignment, rarely was a goal scored from her side of the field. Her quickness and ability to get forward was also important for Cuesta's attack. She started many attacks from her deep position that ended up with a shot on the goal. Ryleigh's effort in the games and practice was always 100% as she led by example and tenacity. Her quiet demeanor was always helpful for the team because her aggressiveness on the field spoke for itself. She was Cuesta's most consistent player as she always turned in a quality performance for the Cougars."
