Women's Aquatics Lands in 3rd Place at WSC Mini Meet

Cuesta Women's Swim and Dive took 3rd place in Santa Clarita at the season's first Western State Conference Mini Meet.  Returning Freshman Annie Bartolome and Freshman Jensen Perry each won two individual races and accounted for all four of the Cougars' event titles.  Bartolome dominated the competition by winning each of her events by, at least, half a lap.  She won the 200-individual medley by five seconds with a time of 2:22.33 and the 100-backstroke by six seconds in 1:03.61.  Her time in the backstroke also knocked former State Champion Amanda Takahashi off Cuesta's All Time Top 10 for the event.  Perry, whose brothers each won an event for the men, paced the pack in the freestyle events and added two more titles for the family.  She won the 200-freestyle (2:09.62) and the 100-freestyle (:59.02).  Freshman Ryan Rascon was the Cougars' third leading scorer with 14 points.  She finished 2nd in both the 50-freestyle (:29.55), behind Perry, and the 100-breaststroke (1:25.58).

Cuesta Aquatics will compete in the three-day Mt San Antonio College Invitational this weekend in Walnut.  The Mt SAC Invite is the first of three major invitational meets the Cougars will compete in this season, including the Cuesta Arena Invitational in mid-March.
