Small and Mighty Cuesta Women's Swimming Chases a WSC Crown

Cuesta Women's Swim and Dive team is battling for a Western State Conference title with the smallest squad in school history.  The Cougars fielded only four swimmers today, but the Cougars scored in every race and advanced to the finals in four of the five events.  After the first day, only three points seperatres Cuesta and Ventura at the top of the standings.  Distance Freestyler Meghan Abbott (pict) led the Cougars effort by winning a title in the 500-freestyle with the 5th fastest time in Cuesta History (5:21.28), while Jensen Perry and Anna Kreowski both reached the finals for the 50-freestyle  Freshman Chloe Porter completed the quartet for the meet opening 400-Freestyle, as well as the 400-Medley Relay to close the day.  Porter also added points on her own in the 50-Freestyle Consolation race.  The Cougars are chasing the program's 23rd conference title and second in the row.  

The three-day meet continues tomorrow with Day 2.  The preliminary races are scheduled to begin at 9:30, while the Finals kick-off at 4:30.
