Cuesta College Female Athlete of the Month Annie Bartolome, April 2022

Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month.  Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for April is Swimmer Annie Bartolome.

Freshman Annie Bartolome made an immediate impact on Cuesta's swim team.  The mid-year transfer boosted a team that entered the season still reeling from the cancelled water polo season in the Fall.  Bartolome turned the Cougars into immediate contenders.  The team closed out April by finishing 4th at the 2022 Western State Conference Championships, after packing half the team into the Top 10 scoring leaderboard.  Bartolome led the meet with three event titles (100 and 200 Backstrokes and 100 Butterfly) and 60 individual points, while joining her teammates for three relay wins and one runner-up finish.  She currently owns four Cuesta Records, which ties 2015 Cuesta Athlete of the Year Rachel Gruetzmacher for the most on the Board.  She owns all of the Backstroke records- 50 (:27.38), 100 (:58.15) and 200 (2:06.07), as well as the 400 Individual Medley (4:45.97)

Cuesta Women's Swimming finished 4th at the 2022 Western State Conference Championship and heads to the 2022 CCCAA State Championship in May.
