Women's Trio Finishes 7th at WSC Preview

Women's Swim & Dive fresh off a third-place finish at the 2022 CCCAA State Championship only brought a token squad to last weekend's Western State Conference Preview Meet.  2022 State Qualifiers Chloe Porter (pict-C) and Anna Kreowski (pict-L) were joined by Freshman Presley Acosta (pict-R) and with only three swimmers the Cougars did not compete in any relay events, which count for double points.  Porter led the team by making "big finals" (Top 8) in each of her three events.  Her 6th place finish in the 100-backstroke (1:09.34) was the team's top mark, but she also finished 7th in the 50-freestyle (:27.00) and 8th in the 100-freestyle (:59.42).  Kreowski just missed the Top 8 with a 9th place finish in the 50-freestyle (:27.15) and made consolations with 13th in the 100-butterfly and 15th the 100-freestyle.  Acosta stuck with the freestyle events and competed in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles.

The Cougars will see some familiar faces this weekend when the team travels to Bakersfield for its first scoring Western State Conference Mini-Meet.  The conference shall host three weekends of mini meets during the season with each team getting to compete against their conference foes twice before the conference championship.  The WSC Championship is scheduled the final the third weekend in April at Los Angeles Valley College in Van Nuys.
