Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for April is Track & Field Star Madeline Scovil.
Freshman Leaper Madeline Scovil earned all-Western State Conference honors in three events at the 2023 Western State Conference Championships, including an individual title. Scovil led the Cougars to 5th place as a team and qualified as an individual in three events for the CCCAA Regional Preliminary Meet. She was the only Cuesta athlete to win an individual event title at the WSC Meet, which she earned in the Triple Jump with a leap of 37' 6.5". She also claimed a Bronze in both the Pole Vault (9' 2.25") and Long Jump (17'). She currently ranks 2nd all time at Cuesta in the Triple Jump and 7th in the Long Jump.
Track & Field finished 5th at the 2023 Western State Conference Championship and advanced six athletes in fourteen events to the CCCAA Regional Preliminary Meet
