Robert, a SLO County native, returned to the Central Coast to become the Cougars' fourth head coach since 1971.  He brings home over a decade of coaching experience at multiple levels of collegiate competition.  Additionally, as a former Decathlete, he has a wealth of knowledge in almost every event.   Robert took over as Cuesta's Head Coach for men's and women's track & field for the 2022-23 season and added cross-country duties in the Fall of 2023.

A prep star at nearby Atascadero High, Robert earned a pair of Bachelor's Degrees at UC Davis, in Exercise Biology and Psychology.  He was also the Aggies' top Hurdler and Long Jumper in 2011. He earned all-Big West honors in the Long Jump and advanced to the NCAA West Regionals, while serving as Team Captain in his final season at Toomey Field.  Robert also earned the Most Improved Athlete Award and Aggie Impact Award.

Robert began coaching soon after he ended his days as a collegiate competitor.  He was a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Aggies in 2012 and helped lead the UC Davis Women's Track & Field team to a Big West Conference title.

He moved on as an Assistant Coach at Pomona-Pitzer in 2013, while simultaneously earning his Master's Degree at Concordia University.  After completing his degree, in Exercise, Sport Science, Coaching and Athletic Administration, Robert was named Head Coach for the Sagehens in 2016.  The next Fall, he accepted the Head Coaching position at Whitter College and guided the Poets until moving back to the Central Coast in 2022.

Robert and his wife Brenna live in nearby Morro Bay with their daughter, Charlotte.
