Spikers Looking to Change Course with Homecourt Advantage

Cuesta Women's Volleyball hopes a return to the friendly confines of Cuesta's Stork Gymnasium can help them rebound from a tough week.  The Cougars, who are in the midst of a five match-slide, play their first match in front of the home faithful this Wednesday.  The Cougars host a three-way, mini tournament with Lassen and Glendale on Wednesday (2/6 PM), before heading back on the road to Glendora and Citrus College this Friday (6 PM).

The Cougars opened the season with a four-game win over West Hills-Lemoore, but, after winning the first two sets, lost that day's nightcap against West Hills-Coalinga in five games, despite outscoring the victorious Falcons overall.  The Spikers then embarked on a brutal four-match road trip last week and came home without winning a set.  They lost to Modesto (14-25, 16-25, 13-25) and Sequoias (26-28, 19-25, 14-25) on Wednesday and then Lassen (24-26, 25-27, 20-25) and Merced (25-27, 22-25, 19-25) on Friday.   The Cougars have dropped their past 14 sets in a row, however six of those have been by the minimum, two points, including four that also went into overtime.  A little home cooking and some adjustments should allow the Cougars to get back on track as they chase a second straight playoff berth and vie for a conference title.
