Women's Volleyball ended an eight-match slide against Porterville on Saturday with a 4-1 (25-12, 23-25, 25-22, 25-15) victory over the host Pirates. 2021 All-WSC Middle Blocker Meredith Donovan (pict) smashed a team season-high 22 kills in the match as the Cougars returned to the win column. Earlier in the week, Cuesta lost a Western State Conference (WSC) match at #16 Moorpark (25-10, 25-17, 25-23). Wednesday's match against the Raiders also dropped the Cougars to 0-3 against the WSC and, after the win over at Porterville, they are 4-13 overall.
The Cougars return to Western State Conference play with two home matches this week. The Cougars host Pierce on Wednesday (6 PM) and host #5 Ventura on Friday (6 PM) to end their first swing through the circuit. The visiting Pirates are highest ranked team in the six-team WSC, which boasts three teams in the Top 20 and five programs receiving Top 20 votes last week.
