Cuesta Women's Volleyball opened the 2023 campaign with a pair of wins over visiting Reedley and Glendale. The Cougars faced Reedley in their first match-up of their North-South Tri-Meet and set down the Tigers in four sets (25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19), before sweeping Glendale with three identical point totals (25-17, 25-17, 25-17) in the nightcap.  Freshman Outside Hitter Bailey Woodside (pict-L) led the Cougars with 14 kills on the day, while also tying Ashley Martin (Pict-R) with a team-high three service aces.  Fellow Freshman Julia Olson dominated on both sides of the net, she was second on the team eight kills on offense and added six blocks on defense.  The Cougars are 2-0 on the season.   

The Cougars faced Glendale directly after Vaqueros swept Reedley (25-12, 27-25, 25-22).  Cuesta's 2-0 start to the season equals the program's best opening to a season since its 7-0 start in 2007 and they expect to extend their streak next Friday at West Hills-Coalinga with games against both Lassen (3 PM) and West Hills-Lemoore (5 PM).
