Cuesta Women’s Polo Lands 7 on WSC Teams- Kreowski and Porter Earn All State

Women's Water Polo finished 3rd in the Western State Conference and returned to the post-season for the first time since 2019.  The Poloists posted a 14-15 record on the season and fell in the first round of the CCCAA State Playoffs to Riverside, 18-8.  The team was well represented on the all-Western State Conference teams with seven Cuesta players earning honors, led by All-State selections Anna Kreowski (Arroyo Grande HS, L-pict) and Chloe Porter (Santa Maria: Righetti HS, R-pict)

All State Center Anna Kreowski dominated the State in her first full collegiate campaign.  She was named to the 2022 All-Western State Conference First Team and all-Southern California Second Team.  Kreowski led the State with a new Cuesta Record of 142 goals and tallied them at a high percentage.  Her 51.3 shooting percentage ranked 25th (min 75 shots) in the State and ranks 15th all time at Cuesta.  Kreowski, who also played during the suspended 2021 season, ranks 5th on Cuesta All Time Scoring list with 159 career goals.  She also broke the Cougars' single-game scoring record twice last season and her ten-goal game against Modesto on September 17 is the current Cuesta standard.

All State Driver Chloe Porter shined as one the of the State's best all-around players.  Porter made everyone around her better and was a major factor in the Cougars' success.   She was named to the 2022 Western State Conference First Team and earned all-Southern California Honorable Mention.  Porter was second on the team with 61 goals, however she also led the team in assists and exclusions drawn.  Her 54 assists (6th in State) and State-leading 76 exclusions drawn landed her in the #2 spot all time at Cuesta for both categories.  Despite playing only seven games in 2021, Porter still added her name to the Cougars' all-time career lists.  She ranks 20th for a career goals (79), 11th for assists (61) and 4th for Exclusions drawn (82).

2022 Western State Conference First Team Defender Ryan Rascon (Santa Cruz HS) led the Cougars with 46 steals and added 26 goals and 26 assists on offense.   Rascon was Cuesta's best match-up defender, but also proved herself to be a consistent offensive threat.  Rascon, along with Kreowski and Porter, all played as freshman this season, after their 2021 campaign was suspended after three playing dates and seven games.

2022 All Western State Conference Second Team selections Hanna Bonham (Brentwood, CA) and Presley Acosta (Visalia, CA) were both crucial to the Cougars' success this season. Bonham started in the goal for 19 of the Cougars' 28 games and posted a 9-10 record in the nets.  She collected 154 saves and swiped six steals, while guiding the Cougars' defense.   On offense, Acosta was third on the team with 33 goals and second on the team with 33 assists.  On Defense, she was third on the team with 29 steals

Freshmen Delci Sawyer (Morgan Hill, CA) and Makayla Hermesch (Arroyo Grande HS) were both accorded Western State Conference Honorable Mention for their all-around play.  Sawyer, who joined Kreowski and Porter as the only players to start and play in every game, netted 8 goals and dished out 28 assists to lead the offense, while adding 15 steals on defense.  Hermesch came off the bench to score 21 goals and added 27 assists and 13 steals.
