Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our female selection for November is Harrier Julia Voss.
Cuesta Women's Cross Country finished 7th at the 2021 CCCAA State Cross Country Championship behind the standout performance of Returning Freshman Julia Voss. Voss earned All-State honors after clearing the five-kilometer course in only 18:47.8. She posted the 7th fastest time in the race and 6th fastest State time by a Cuesta Harrier since 1996. Voss joins 11 other former Cuesta Harriers to be named be named to the CCCAA All State First Team, since the two-division system was dissolved in 1982. Voss has been the Cougars' top finisher in five of her seven starts this season and the leader of the other two, Dulce Esquivel, was right behind her in 34th place.
Women's Cross Country landed in 2nd place in the Western State Conference and set a program record with eight harriers earning all-conference honors. Over the program's 44 full seasons women's cross-country has reached the state finals 16 times, including eight times since Coach Brian Locher took over in 2007.
