Coach Joe Dansby says, "Someone once told me "a happy heavyweight, makes for a happy team'. Juan is not only the most liked guy on the team but one of the hardest workers. He comes into practice willing to do whatever the coaches ask of him w/o excuses. He is kind, caring and a true friend to all his teammates. His innate ability to go beyond himself makes him a successful wrestler. Not one opponent this season could outmatch Juan's endurance as he moved into the third period with an abundance of heart, drive and perseverance that overwhelmed them all. In an extremely competitive weight class Juan placed 3rd and All-American this year for Cuesta. He very well could have won the whole thing. The funny thing is Juan has only scratched the surface of his capabilities. He will be missed and I look forward to seeing what is in store for his future."
