Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for March is Cager Darryl Brooks.
Freshman Guard Darryl Brooks was a shining star in this dark era of collegiate athletics. The freshman guard from Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin burst onto the scene with 19 points to propel the Cougars past local rival Allan Hancock in the season opener. He eclipsed the 20-point barrier in each of his next two games and led the Cougars with 16.4 points per game over the five-game campaign. Brooks showcased his full skill set in the short season and established himself in every facet of the game. In addition to his scoring prowess, Brooks led the Cougars with nine steals, while also finishing second on the team in rebounds (17) and third in assists (11).
Men's Basketball finished its abbreviated 2020-21 season with a 2-3 record. The Cougars hope to be back fulltime during the 2021-22 season.
