Cuesta Beach Volleyball has changed this Friday's doubleheader against Monterey Peninsula from a home match to a road match in Monterey. The Cougars and Lobos are set to play on Valentine's Day in Monterey. The game times have also been adjusted from a twilight doubleheader at 4 and 5 PM, to midday at 10 and noon. The Lobos reached the post-season in 2024, but did not make it out of the first round, while the Cougars, in their second year of competition, are only two wins of matching their inaugural season's win total.
The Cougars fell to 2-2 on the season after losing a twinbill to Golden West on Friday in Garden Grove. Cuesta lost the first round, 3-2, with the Alexis Waltz (pict) and Amelie Lo Jocano winning at #3 (21-13 & 22-20) and Hanne Porter and Nikki Gill winning at #5 (21-15, 19-21, 15-13). In the first round, three of the four matches went to a tiebreaker and two more were added to the total during the Rustlers' sweep in the nightcap, 5-0. The #3 pairing of Waltz and Lo Jocano were unable to their first-round sweep as the Rustlers won by pushing them to a third set (18-21, 21-13, 15-9), while Annika Layton and Rosita Menta also pushed their match in a tiebreaker (21-18, 17-21, 15-12).
