Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for February is Sophomore Pitcher Woody Brennan
Sophomore Pitcher Woody Brennan returned to the Cougars' rotation after Redshirting in 2023 and has exploded out of the gate. Brennan has pitched in five games this season, starting four, and posted a 3-1 record with a sparkling 0.91 earned run average. He has allowed only three earned runs this season, while authoring a five-hit shutout over Reedley on February 13 and combining with Reliever Justin Cortez for another four-hit, white-washing against Santa Barbara City on February 22. Interestingly, Brennan's best performance of the month was not a shutout, but his two-hit, one-run complete game victory on the road against the previously #4-ranked Orange Coast Pirates.
The Cougars began Western State Conference play with a 3-2 record against the circuit at the end of February. They will play eleven more WSC games in March, before hosting the Cuesta/Hancock Spring Break Tournament.
