Baseball Takes on LA Pierce in a Three-Game WSC Series

Baseball continues its Western State Conference schedule this week with a three-game series against Los Angeles Pierce.  The Brahmas will be in SLO on Tuesday (2:30) and Friday (1 PM), while the Cougars hit the road for Woodland Hills on Thursday (2 PM).  Last week the Cougars took two of three games off Allan Hancock, who entered the week undefeated in WSC play. This week, Cuesta heads to the other end of the WSC table to face a Brahma team mired in an 11-game slide and hungry for its first conference victory.

The Cougars ended last week with a win against Allan Hancock, 12-4, on Saturday in Santa Maria.  However, Cuesta's victory still left them 1.5 games behind the rival Bulldogs in the WSC standings.  Saturday's victory was also Cuesta's 497th under Coach Bob Miller, who joined the Cougars for the 2003 campaign.  A sweep of the Brahmas this week would get him to 500 for his career.  Miller is still chasing current Cuesta Men's Basketball Coach Rusty Blair, who just became the Cuesta College's All Time Winningest Coach.  Blair passed former Men's Water Polo Coach Terry Bowen, 559-to-556, after going .500 in WSC play, 6-6, and taking 4th place in the loop.
