Baseball Sweeps Moorpark and Grabs WSC Reins

Cuesta Baseball currently holds a half-game lead in the Western State Conference North Division after sweeping this week's three-game series from Moorpark.  The Cougars owned homefield advantage when they beat the Raiders on Tuesday, 8-7, and today, 14-4, but also won in Moorpark, 7-4 on Thursday.  Today the Cougars rotated through 14 different position players and five pitchers for a team win.  On offense, five different players enjoyed a multi-hit game and were led by Designated Hitter Pranav Sundar (pict).  Sundar tied for the team leads with both two hits, including a Double and a Home Run, and drove in two runs on the day, but he also crossed the plate a game-high three times.  On the mound, Righthander Andrew Seibert came into the game in the 3rd inning and allowed only one run over four innings of work to earn the victorious decision.  The Cuesta Batsmen are now 18-7 overall and atop the WSC standings with an 11-3 record against the circuit.

The Cougars take a break from their conference schedule next week to play some of the best teams in the State in the Cuesta/Hancock Spring Break Tournament.  The geographical rivals join to host the State's premier mid-season tournament.  Cuesta is scheduled to host East LA on Wednesday (2 PM), in the opener and then face perennial playoff teams Cypress and Merced on Thursday and Friday.  Both of those game are scheduled for a 1 PM start.
