Baseball Opens the Post-Season Hosting Glendale On Friday and Saturday

Cuesta Baseball returns to the post-season for the 29th time since 1990 and is hosting for the third straight year.  The Cougars, who earned the 11th-seed, shall welcome the 14th-seed Glendale for a best-of-three series this Friday (2 PM) and Saturday (11/3 PM).  The Cougars and Vaqueros both finished the 2024 season in 2nd place in their respective Western State Conference Divisions.  The Cougars were one of nine teams in the State to cross the 30-win threshold (30-10) but finished a game out of first place in the WSC-North, while Glendale finished 5 games back in the WSC-South, while producing a record of 25-14.  This is the second straight season the Cougars have been matched with a WSC-South team in the first round.  In 2023, Cuesta and LA Valley traded shutouts in the first two games, before the Monarchs slipped away with the tiebreaker, 9-6.  The Cougars have not advanced out of the first round since taking two-of-three games from Palomar in 2016.

The Cougars can get hot at any time as Cuesta rode a 16-game winning streak through the middle of their schedule and, after a pair of setbacks, closed out the season with four more wins.  The Cougars finished the season by winning 20 of their last 22 games, however Glendale also finished strong.  The Vaqueros won nine of their last ten games and are also in the midst a four-game winning streak.
