Cuesta Baseball endured their worst conference loss in over a decade last Tuesday in Woodland Hills, 15-2, but the Cougars bounced back with a pair of dominant victories of their own. The Cougars beat the Brahmas, 13-3, in SLO on Thursday and returned to Pierce on Saturday to post another thumping, 19-3. The Cougars posted a season-high 21 hits in the game, including eight doubles, while tying their WSC opening win over Oxnard, 19-3, for their highest run total of the season. Every member of Cuesta's starting nine earned, at least, one safety in the game, while Centerfielder and Leadoff Aidan Botti enjoyed a 4-for-6 day with three runs scored and four driven in. He was also one of four Cuesta batsmen to connect for a home run, along with First Baseman Tristan Usher. Usher launched two home runs in the game, to boost his team-leading total to nine roundtrippers on the season. He is currently 6th in the State for home runs. Cuesta Starter Lukas Ward went six-innings to earn his second straight winning decision, before handing the game off to part-time relievers, Shortstop Victor Heredia and Usher to close out the last three frames. The Cougars are now 16-13 overall and 10-5 in the Western State Conference.
Cuesta Baseball completes its first swing through the Western State Conference with a series against Moorpark. The Cougars shall travel to Moorpark on Tuesday (2 PM) and Saturday (1 PM), while also hosting the Raiders on Thursday (2 PM). The WSC will have a bye next week, while the Cougars host Long Beach, and then have two weeks of single-round games to complete the regular and conference schedule.
