Cagers Drop Post-Thanksgiving Game at Cabrillo- Head to Merced this Week

Cuesta Men's Basketball bookended the Thanksgiving Holiday with a loss to visiting #10 Cerro Coso, 67-57, on Wednesday and a loss at #13 Cabrillo, 102-85, in Aptos on Saturday.  2023 All-WSC Guard Drew Ardouin (pict) and Freshman Forward TJ Maveety each did their best to keep the Cougars in contention throughout both contests.  They both tied for the team-scoring lead in both games with 16 points each against Cerro Coso and 20 points against Cabrillo, while Maveety also grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds on the week.  The setbacks dropped Cuesta to 1-7 on the season.  The visiting Coyotes and then the Seahawks represent two of the Cougars' four losses against the State's Top 30, as Cuesta endures one of the State's toughest pre-conference schedules.  Their current power-ranking is at #31 in the South Region, so, with three months to play, they remain well in range of one of the region's 24 playoff bids.

The Cougars have just one game on the schedule this week, when they travel Merced on Saturday (5 PM).  The Blue Devils are currently ranked #24 in the State.
