In 2002 the Cuesta Athletic Department established and named the Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete Award in recognition of former Cuesta Athletic Director Warren Hansen's 36-year commitment to academic excellence. A Hansen Award winning student must maintain a 3.5 GPA and is also nominated based on their citizenship and athletic performance. This year's winner of the Male Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete Award is Star Cager Drew Ardouin
2024 Cuesta Men's Basketball Player of the Year Drew Ardouin was equally successful on the hardwood and with the books. The Two-time All-WSC Guard flooded the Cougars record books with new marks, while simultaneously posting near perfect marks in the classroom. Ardouin, who redshirted in 2022-23, is a two-time all-Western State Conference First Team selection and a two-time all-WSC Academic team member. A Business Administration Major, he has completed 165.5 units at Cuesta with a 3.84 grade-point average, while earning Academic Honors in all six of his fulltime semesters. He graduated this spring with High Honors, while also boasting a Certificate of Achievement in General Business Concentration and Intersegmental GE Transfer. Drew plans to transfer and play at the University of San Francisco next year.
Drew shall represent Cuesta at the Conference and State level as Cuesta College's CCCAA Men's Scholar Award nominee. His nomination will move forward to the conference level in September.
Cuesta has earned more CCCAA Scholar-Athlete Awards than any other community college. Cuesta's 2023 Hansen Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and fellow Cager, Olivia Missler was named to the 2022-23 CCCAA State Honor Roll (Top 15 in the State).
