Cuesta Men's Basketball is halfway through their 55th Hinson's Tire Pros Classic and shall face #3 College of the Sequoias in tomorrow's tournament finale.  Today the Giants beat Cuesta's local rival Allan Hancock, 63-47, and shall take a run at the host Cougars on Sunday (2 PM).  The Bulldogs will also return to the floor tomorrow, when they play Feather River at Noon.  The Golden Eagles opened the tournament against Cuesta and handed their hosts a loss, 80-57. 

After their first-round setback to Feather River, 80-57, which evened their season record at 1-1, the Cougars will look for a win against Giants tomorrow (2 PM).   In today's 'Home Opener', First-year Starters Shinichi Itoh and Alessandro Perotti demonstrated their impact, while the Cuesta's backcourt duo of Stevie Waiters and Nicky Frangie used their speed and tenacity to cause a lot of trouble for opponents on both ends of the court.  Itoh leads the Cougars with 14 points per game, while converting 66.7% of his shots from beyond the arch, while Perotti is not only averaging a double-double, with 13 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, but paces the team with 3.0 assists per outing.  Waiters and Frangie, who are both former Atascadero Greyhounds, have combined for 27 points, seven assists and 11 steals in the Cougars first two games.
