Cuesta Men's Basketball is in third place in the Western State Conference, one-game behind local rival Allan Hancock and a game and a half behind loop leading Moorpark. The Cougars host the rival Bulldogs on Wednesday (7 PM) and travel to Moorpark to face the Raiders on Saturday (3 PM). Both teams are ranked in the CCCAA's Top 30 Poll, with Moorpark at #22 and Allan Hancock locked in a five-way tie for the 30th and final spot. The Cougars, at 15-7 overall, are only two wins away from the top of the circuit and a chance for their first conference title since the pandemic.
Last Saturday, the Cougars completed their first swing through the Western State Conference on a three-game winning streak. The Cougars travelled to Santa Barbara and beat the host Vaqueros, 77-53, thanks to the efforts of Center Alessandro Perotti and Guard Corbin Rossi (pict). Perotti netted a game-high 23 points, while adding six rebounds and tying for the team lead with four assists. Rossi's 11 points made him the only other Cougar to reach double-digits in scoring, while adding five boards and four assists of his own.
