Men's Basketball earned the #18-seed in the 2025 CCCAA Regional Playoffs and faced #15 Pasadena City in a first-round road game last Wednesday. The host Lancers jumped out early and carried a lead, 41-30 into halftime. The Cougars made their halftime adjustments and put the host Lancers on their heals at the start of the second half. It took the Cougars just seven minutes, and a 16-5 run, to tie the game at 46-all. The Lancers, who were knocked out of the 2019 Playoffs by an underdog Cuesta squad, took a quick time out to make some adjustments and try to cool off the Cougars. After, their meeting, the Lancers went on a 15-3 run of their own to put the game out of reach, 61-49. Pasadena's lock down defense only allowed eight more points to the Cougars, as the Lancers pushed toward victory, 73-57, and a next round meeting with #2 Citrus. Guard Shinichi Itoh and Center Alessandro Perotti were the only Cuesta scorers to reach double-digits in the game. Shinichi scored a team-high 21 points on offense and added five steals on defense, while Perotti posted a double-double with 18 points and a game-high ten rebounds. The playoff loss concluded the Cougars season and Head Coach Rusty Blair's 33rd and final season on the Cuesta Bench. Cuesta closed the season with a 19-10 overall record and its 21st playoff berth under Coach Rusty Blair, as well as the program's 26 playoff berth over the past 60 seasons.
