Men 2nd and Women 3rd at Wildcat Cup
Cuesta College Track & Field hosted the 2020 Wildcat Cup, which featured seven teams from around the State with coaches that attended Chico State or competed for the Chico State Wildcats.  Chico State Alumni and Cuesta Coach Brian Locher organized the event, which also hosted some of the State's top teams.  Cuesta finished 2nd in the men's competition, behind 1st place Hartnell and 3rd behind Modesto and Santa Rosa in the women's competition.

Cuesta's men were just 3.5 points behind Hartnell, but had to settle for 2nd place, despite five event wins.  Freshman Hurdler Brent Our-Craig enjoyed a breakout performance and became the first Hurdler in the State to break 55-seconds in the 400-hurdles this season. His time of :54.61 currently ranks #1 in the State and 6th all time at Cuesta. 2019 Regional Qualifier Matthew O'Henley also broke through in the Hammer with a toss of 159' 8", which surpassed his previous best by 15-feet. He now ranks 3rd in the Southern California Region and 2nd all time at Cuesta.  O'Henley's fellow throwers also picked up event wins as the Cougars claimed three of the four throwing events.  Freshman Corban Payne won the Shot Put (49-9.25) and Micah Katz claimed the Discus (143-8) with the 6th best toss in school history,  Steepler Melecio Gonzalez rounded out the day by leading the Cougars' medal sweep (1-2-3) in the Steeplechase (10:54.90)

Women's Track & Field was just two points out of 2nd place behind Santa Rosa, which the BearCubs picked up in the final event by outscoring the Cougars, 11-7 in the High Jump. Cuesta won five individual events on the day and were led by All State Harrier Leza Cassidy and 2018 Regional Qualifying Hurdler Madison Mitchell. Cassidy won the 3,000-meter run and her time of 10:50.29 earned her the #9 spot on Cuesta All Time Top 10. Mitchell already holds the #3 spot all time at Cuesta in the 100 hurdles, so she was able to cruise to victory with a solid time of :16.66. 2019 State Qualifying Harrier Kylee Dismuke-Rodriguez won the Cougars' third event on the track.  She finished the 800-meter run in 2:26.43 for the victory.  Thrower Cara Jones and Leaper Arielle Baxter also won events. Jones won the Discus with a toss of 108-11, while Baxter took the Triple Jump after clearing 33-8.5.
