Men's Track & Field Opens With a Win

Cuesta Men's Track and Field travelled to Lancaster for a Western State Conference Meet on Friday and won the competition at Antelope Valley College.  The men's team claimed five of the 16 individual events on the day to win the seven-team event.  Returners Connor Pritchard and Luke McMahon helped lead the men's team.  Pritchard won the 100m by two-hundredths of a second with a time of :11.09, while McMahon cruised to victory, by nearly fourteen feet, in the Hammer with a toss of 151' 11".  The Cougars also received a record-breaking performance from Freshman Gabriel Katches.  Katches won his event with a throw of 162' 1", while breaking Austin Field's 2011 Cuesta Discus Record of 153' 2".  Freshmen Zachary Egan and Thomas Rodda also won the 400-hurdles (1:01.10) and Triple Jump (44' 0.75") events, respectively.    

COMING UP- Cuesta Track & Field next competes on May 14 with a meet at Moorpark College and end the season two weeks later.  They travel to Lancaster for the 2021 Western State Conference Preliminary Meet at Antelope Valley College on May 21 and close the season at the 2021 WSC Championships at Bakersfield College on May 28.
