
Cuesta Men's Track & Field place 4th out of 11 teams at the 2024 Western State Conference Championships. The Cougars scored 77.5 total points and were less than 20 points out of 2nd place, but no team challenged overall Champion Moorpark's 207.5 total points. Pole Vaulter Owen Arreguy (pict-C) was the Cougars' event winner. He matched his season-high of 14' 5.25" for the third time this season, while also tying teammate Kevin Sweeney (Pict-R). Sweeney also equaled he season-high of 14' 5.25" but had to settle for Runner-up due to misses at a lower height. In the throws, Decathlete Joseph Tugwell (Pict-L) matched Sweeney by earning a Silver in the Javelin, by posting a season-best mark of 162' 7", while teammate Heath Jones added honors in 5th place (149-3). The Cougars spent a lot of time flying three the air and posted scoring marks in the High, Long and Triple Jumps. Freshman Trevor Parsons finished 5th in the Long Jump (21' 9.5) and 3rd in the High Jump (5' 10.75"), while placing ahead of teammate and 5th place finisher Cal Corn on misses. The Cougars were represented by Joey Mikles in the Triple Jump as he claimed 4th place with his three leaps totaling 40'10.5". On the track, Sophomore Hurdler Gal Rivlin was the Cougars' top finisher. Rivlin placed 4th in the 400-hurdles, after dropping almost four seconds and six places with a time of :59.90.
