Cuesta College Athletics Department is proud to announce this month's selections for the Cuesta Athlete of the Month. This distinct honor recognizes two Cuesta College Athletes each month during the school year who have performed to the highest standards in their sport. Our male selection for May is Freshman Pole Vaulter Owen Arreguy
Freshman Pole Vaulter Owen Arreguy enjoyed an outstanding season with Cuesta Men's Track & Field and finished the 2024 campaign with a flourish. He hit a career-high 14-5.25 to close out March, before matching that mark to win the Coast/Valley Meet and a Western State Conference title. He boosted himself over a new season-high of 15-5 to win the CCCAA Southern Regional crown. Arreguy cleared 14-5.25, again, at the CCCAA State Championships, but stalled at 14-11 and settled for 4th place, while earning all-State honors.
The Cougars finished 4th in the Western State Conference title and finished 14th at the 2024 CCCAA State Track & Field Championships.
