This is the 42nd year of Cuesta's Arena Invitational, the most prestigious tournament in the State. The tournament began in 1979, the same year Cuesta water polo, and is often considered the preview CCCAA State Championship, since so tournament champions have gone on to the State Title game. The tournament will run all day on Friday and Saturday, however prior to the tournament the Cougars shall play reigning CCCAA State Champion Golden West, who won the 2019 title, on Thursday (2 PM), while 2019 State Runner-up Long Beach City plays 2019 playoff team American River in the nightcap (3 PM) of a pre-tournament doubleheader. Cuesta will play both teams Long Beach and American River on Friday. The Cougars open the day with the Beavers (9 AM) and kick-off the day's second round against Long Beach (1:40). On Saturday, the Cougars take on a pair of the Western State Conference foes. They open with 2018 State Runner-up LA Valley (9:10) and close the tournament against Ventura (1:50). Cuesta enters the tournament 11-2 on the season and undefeated against CCCAA teams. This will be a tough week for all the team and great weekend of high caliber water polo as the entire 2019 CCCAA Southern California Regional Final Four (Cuesta, Long Beach, Golden West, LA Valley) are part of the seven-team field.
